Venezuelans Foil Dastardly Plot… Maybe

with 2 comments

Venezuelan voters yesterday narrowly kept themselves from being put under the thumb of a crazed, malevolent dictator.

This morning, I received this e-mail:

Scolai,

I am emailing you in the hope that you will accept a private rebucke (sic) more readily than a public one. Once again one of your stupid predictions has been proved wrong. President Chavez took this setback like the leader he is. Much better than Dubya the terrerist (sic) did when he stoole (sic) the 00 and 04 elections here. There was no mass murders (sic). There was no imprisoning of dissenters. President Chavez showed that with out the daddy complex and meddling of the Bush administration war criminils (sic) free elections will take place outside of the United States. I hope that after today you will widen your world view. Start thinking globally.

Feather Saturnwand? I get e-mails from Feather Saturnwand!?! I was flabbergasted! I would have thought this blog was far from any left wing radar. Well such a challenge does not go unanswered in my world.

 Ms. Saturnwand,

I am working from the assumption that you are an idealistic young woman with little real world experience. Although you may just as well be a dried up sixties radical who doesn’t realize that time has passed her by. Or you may not even be a woman in the traditional sense, in which case I recommend that you go back to using the name your parents gave you. I would hope they loved you more than saddling you with such a moniker would imply.  I appreciate you taking the time to check out my blog as it must be difficult to get a reliable wireless connection 200′ up in an old growth Redwood. Listen Peaches, next time your solar panels have your batteries fully charged, do a  Google  search for “Rope a Dope.” I don’t believe for a second that Chavez will stand for the peaceful transfer of power. He may be down, but certainly he is not out.

Next time your “partner” is corn rowing the hair under your arms–or in other places not spoken of in polite company– you might try reading F.A. Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom” rather than re-reading Mary Mellor’s “Breaking the Boundaries: Towards a Feminist Green Socialism.” Write me when your Birkenstocks wear out. I have some old tires that could be recycled into proper eco-feminist footwear. Better yet, should reading Mr. Hayek’s work open your mind to reality, write me when you decide to become a productive member of society. I will be happy to FedEx a towel, a razor, and a bar of Ivory soap to the ranger station of your choice to help speed your re-acclimation to the world of useful people.

Regards,

Scolai
