My Helmet

So, I walked into our engine bay today to find a large tattooed individual fondling my helmet, pun intended. After distracting him with a copy of Sonny Barger’s “Ridin’ High, Livin’ Free,” I recovered it and decided this would make a great post.

Most bikers you see in states under the thumb of insurance company lobbyists (those regressive states clinging to mandatory lid laws), cover this useless piece of “safety gear” with stickers or paint of some sort. I chose to use mine to broadcast my opinions on the laws of Governess Molepuss C. Grandtheft and the posers who have infected the biker community.

My opinions you ask?

ABOLISH The Mandatory Helmet Law

I have talked to three people who were ticketed for novelty lids this month. Under Governess Grandtheft’s directive, the State Police have been instructed to supercede DOT regulations and ticket anyone wearing a helmet less than 1″ in thickness. The application of this directive is completely subjective, and absoulutely without precedent in a free society. The DOT at least makes a pretense of having research to justify it’s actions, Grandtheft, in typical liberal fashion, feels no need to justify hers.

I can only hope that the 2010 elections bring Michigan a Governor who will dismantle the Nanny state this Canadian Communist has tried so hard to create.
