Ted Kennedy’s Illegal Immigration Bill

with one comment

The Senate’s latest attempt at legitimizing 20 million felons in this country has gone down to defeat. The New York Times today counted this as a defeat for the Bush administration, but was the greatest rebuke suffered by President Bush, or actually by the architect of this anti-American legislation?

Ted Kennedy (D) Massachusetts, authored this bill. Had it passed, it would have changed the fabric of this country forever. Senator Kennedy has a long history of trying to turn the U.S. into just another Banana Republic, but this latest attempt stands out even for him.

I want people to remember that he is less the brother of a slain president, and much more the son of a self serving, physical coward, whose family has spent millions of dollars attempting to rehabillitate his image.

In World War I, while all of his fellow Harvard graduates were flocking to military service, Joe Kennedy found an office job at the Fore River Shipyard. After the war, Kennedy became a prototype “Gordon Gecko” and invented the concept of “Me First.” During the run up to WWII, Kennedy famously came down of the side of appeasing Adolph Hitler and offered to negotiate a treaty with the Nazis to keep the U.S. out of the war.

Is it any wonder that the son of this man would author a bill creating a permanent underclass indebted to the Kennedy family? Not to me.

This was a terrible piece of legislation that went down to a much deserved defeat. Thanks to the American people for jamming the switchboards of your Senators and telling them loudly and clearly that the citizens of this republic will not stand for amnesty for criminals.
