North Korean Nuclear Inspections

Japan ‘s Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported that North Korea was prepared to close the reactor in its main nuclear complex in Yongbyon and accept inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency — though the reactor itself would remain off-limits.The North, however, does not intend to close the site used for its October nuclear weapons test, will not allow inspections there, and is not prepared to reveal details of its nuclear weapons program.

At the coming disarmament talks this week, North Korea also will demand it be taken off Washington ‘s list of states sponsoring terrorism. In return, Pyongyang plans to demand energy aid of more than 500,000 tons of crude oil a year to compensate for an aborted project to build two light-water reactors in the country.

The North also will insist that Washington take steps to lift financial sanctions against North Korean assets held in Macau , imposed over the communist regime’s alleged counterfeiting of U.S. dollar bills and money laundering activities, the report said. (Fox

Clearly the evil elfenfolk of the Korean peninsula believe they are already dealing with a reconstituted Clinton administration. I’m sure they’re hoping if they drag their tiny feet long enough, they will be sent an American delegation led by the same types of mental pygmies they so easily deceived in 1994. Why are we even talking to these people? Isn’t this the same country that wants a German man to raise giant rabbits to cure their food shortage? Right about now we need to pull a Judge Smails and tell them in no uncertain terms: “You’ll get nothing and like it!”

Seriously, the North Korean leadership needs to be told plainly: “You will not become a nuclear power. Should you make further attempts to become one, The United States of America will see to it that you cease to exist as a nation.” No need to bribe or coddle them, just lay out the plain truth and come home. When dealing with backward, third world thugs, it’s high time we stop being defined by our restraint and start being defined by our excess.
