“Just a Good Guy…With a Few Bad Habits”

Stars and Bars

On Monday, Senators Joe Biden (D) Delaware and Chris Dodd (D) Connecticut appeared in Columbia S.C. to pander to
voters in hopes of advancing their pitiful presidential prospects for 2008. Biden stated “If I were a state legislator, I’d vote to move it off the grounds—out of the state.”

The “it” Senator Biden’s speechwriter refers to is the Confederate Battle Flag that is flown beside a Confederate soldiers monument on the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse. I referenced Biden’s speechwriter to call attention to the fact that Ol’ Joe is a notorious plagiarist, and I don’t believe he could write anything quotable without some serious help.

Neither Biden, nor Dodd for that matter, has any business being in being in South Carolina trying to stir the pot, hoping for a little ink. Biden should be back in Delaware apologizing for his State’s failure to emancipate every slave within its tiny borders at the very moment Delaware cast its lot with the union. Dodd, on the other hand, should carry his ever expanding back side back to Connecticut and explain why his noble state once banned non-resident people of color from its public schools because “….it would tend to the great increase of the colored people in the state.”
They must have forgotten these dirty little secrets or, given the woeful state of public education, never known about them.

Here’s my take on all of this: I don’t believe in slavery. I think everyone should be given the same opportunities to rise or fall based only on their effort and ability. The flag issue, at its heart is “Heritage” not “Hate.” Even the most minimally educated person knows this. The flag is being flown at a “Confederate” soldiers monument. Should they fly the “Stars and Stripes?” I know that Liberals tend to come down on the side of inaccurate historical revisionism, but this is ridiculous. The question of slavery was a peripheral issue in the days prior to the War Between the States. The real reason that war was fought was to prove the right of a sovereign State to secede from a voluntarily entered into Union of States, when that Union of States no longer represented the individual State’s best interests.

The people of South Carolina have every right to decide for themselves what will and will not be displayed on their Statehouse grounds. They certainly don’t need two carpet bagging, special interest humping, Yankee Senators telling them what to do.

  1. Excellent! I agree with your post completely.Thank you very much. I cannot believe either of these 2 clowns think they have a snowball’s chance in hell of becoming the President of the United States. I want to know what kind of drugs they are taking. I think we should drug test our entire Congress.
