“Just a Good Guy…With a Few Bad Habits”

Nifong Quits!

Facing ethics charges and possible disbarment, Mike Nifong today asked the North Carolina attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor to oversee the now infamous Duke Rape Case.

Let’s be blunt: Nifong went out like the punk that he is.

No man would walk away from this debacle in the manner of Nifong. Refusing comment?Asking to be replaced via e-mail? These are not the actions of a stand up guy. But then again, niether is standing by a weak, politically motivated case.

A man would have dismissed all charges the minute the DNA evidence came back. A man would have dismissed all charges after the “Victim” changed her story for the 3rd, 4th, or 5th time. A man would have thoroughly investigated the reported rape prior to filing any charges. A man would now dismiss all charges still pending and apologize for all the trouble he has caused.

Nifong stated he did not want to get in the way of the accuser “getting a fair trial.” Although I’m sure he didn’t intend to; he spoke correctly. The accuser will hopefully receive a fair trial on charges of, at the very least,  filing a false report.

As for Nifong, once the charges facing these three young men are dismissed with extreme prejudice, I hope he is disbarred, then held personally liable for every dime of legal expenses incurred by the parents of these young men while defending their son’s against this wrongful, malicious, and obviously politically motivated prosecution.
